Job description Electric Furnace Operator GFMCO, LLC is seeking a skilled Electric Furnace Operator to join our team in the Melt Department.
The Electric Furnace Operator will play a crucial role in the production process, operating electric furnaces to melt metal and create grey and ductile iron castings of the highest quality.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of furnace operations, a commitment to safety and quality, and a passion for manufacturing excellence.
Responsibilities Operate electric furnaces to melt metal and maintain optimal operating conditions.
Monitor furnace temperature, pressure, and other parameters to ensure proper melting of metal and casting quality.
Load raw materials into furnaces according to production requirements.
Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of furnaces to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Always follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Perform quality checks on castings to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs as needed.
Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience as a furnace operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably in foundry operations.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of furnace operations.
Knowledge of grey and ductile iron casting processes is preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additionally, safety is our highest priority and safety procedures/guidelines must be always adhered to.
This includes wearing PPE such as hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, flame retardant clothing, and steel toe work boots.
Punctuality and attendance are essential to success, as well as contributing to an overall positive team atmosphere.
